Dinglasan Appointed Director of the Food Security Advocate’s Office

Mark Dinglasan has been named director of the Office of the Food Security Advocate by Governor Phil Murphy. In September of 2021, Governor Murphy demonstrated his continued dedication to achieving his goal of eliminating hunger in the state of New Jersey by enacting comprehensive legislation to combat food insecurity and establishing the position of Food Security Advocate. This was a significant step toward achieving Governor Murphy’s goal of eradicating hunger in the state.

Food insecurity programs, advocacy measures, and new policies to fight hunger and expand access to food assistance programs will be coordinated by the Food Security Advocate (FSA).

Assembly Speaker Craig J. Coughlin said, “I am very happy by the nomination of Mark Dinglasan as New Jersey and the nation’s first ever state-level Food Security Advocate.” 

Creating this agency was a way for us to bring together all levels of government and organizations interested in food security to battle hunger and break down organizational barriers.

Mark Served in CUMAC

For the last five years, Mark has served as CUMAC’s Executive Director. Mark’s knowledge of the New Jersey culinary industry and dedication to food justice make him a great candidate. Craig will satisfy everyone’s fundamental nutritional needs when he completes his vision for the workplace.

Mark Dinglasan, Director of the Office of the Food Security Advocate, stated he was “humbled and pleased” to serve the state of New Jersey. however,  achieving food security rather than just providing food, is essential if we are to eradicate hunger.” We can work with New Jersey’s leaders, systems, and changemakers to accomplish that advocacy.”

CUMAC, Passaic County’s biggest anti-hunger group, is now led by Mark Dinglasan, it’s executive director. Dinglasan implemented a comprehensive, trauma-informed strategy to fighting hunger and its core causes as CUMAC’s executive director. CUMAC distributes food and other essentials to families and people in need.

About Mark Dinglasan

A decade after entering the nonprofit sector, Mark now oversees a variety of departments; including programs aimed at developing young people as well as sales and strategy.

Beside, he has earned:

  • Master of Business Administration from Kellstadt
  • Graduate School of Business at DePaul University
  • Magna Cum Laude from Monmouth University.
